It is necessary for the teacher to guide the child without letting him feel her presence too much, so that she may always be ready to supply the desired help, but may never be the obstacle between the child and his experience

– Maria Montessori

In continuing the development the whole child, our Primary programs at Growing Tree Montessori Preschool offers curriculum in 5 areas: Language, Math, Cultural, Sensorial, and Practical Life. This classroom is a prepared environment, with natural materials that may be painted in bright colors.

The lessons that occur in the Primary program are mainly individual lessons, and they happen when the child shows that they are ready. Our Primary programs are organized, and the Montessori curriculum is carried out in series of steps. The teachers (Directress’) make observations of the children during unstructured work periods.

Using hands-on materials, children in the Primary Program are able to develop deep concentration in their work leading to longer attention spans, independence, order, coordination, fine motor skills, and gross motor skills.

This program also offers daily routines in a sequence of events such as unstructured work periods, reading group time, music group time, snack group time, outside play, nap time/resting time, and extra-curricular programs*. In addition to the 5 areas of learning in Montessori curriculum, we also offer an enhanced curriculum to teach children subjects such as botany, zoology, social studies, science, values (grace & courtesy), famous artists, and famous composers.

You can expect to see children developing early writing, reading, and math skills in our Primary program.
